MR 4.E Purgatory
The idea of purgatory shows how God shows us mercy and gives us an opportunity to still go to heaven even though we have sins that we have not confessed to. God's love is infinite and he always forgives us. Although we are going to heaven we must suffer for the sins we still have. The ultimate suffering is not being with God.
Baptism and Wedding at Cana idea sketch
When Jesus was baptized he did it to set an example because he didnt recieve grace. Jesus didnt gain anything from it only a connection to other humans. He did it to show us the way and it showed them that he was the Messiah, this also started his public ministry. The Wedding at Cana was Jesus' first public miracle. Jesus also addressed to his mother as "woman" which addressed the protoevangelium. The last time he addressed to his mother as "woman" was at the foot of the cross.

MR 4.C The Transfiguration
Transfiguration helped the apostles find the way to fully serve God and to understand who Jesus fully was. Moses spoke to them about the Law of God and how it helped the people of the OT prepare for the coming of the Messiah. Elijah spoke to them about the prophets which also helped the people of the OT prepare for the coming of the Messiah. This all helped them accept the death of Jesus Christ.

Analysis of Forgiveness of Sins
Christ gave the apostles the power to not only forgive sins, but to "hold them bound." The apostles would not know who had committed what sins, so confession was implied. People would need to tell the apostles what they have done wrong for the apostles to forgive them, and so on.
MR 4.15 The Significance of the Resurrection
The word gospel means “good news.” The Good News is God becoming man, dying for the sins of all, and rising from the dead to give forgiveness of sins and everlasting life. "The ultimate Good News is not Christ’s exalted moral teachings or even the perfect New Law of Love." The Good News is Christ being alive.

Resurrection Theories
This is a contrast between St. Paul's and Rudolph Bultmann's theories of the significance of the Resurrection. St. Paul says that if the Resurrection did not happen, that our faith would be in vain. Rudolph says that if the bones of Christ were to be found, that the essentials of Christianity would stay the same. This is because the Church is well to established. However, any Catholic or Christian could say that St. Paul's account is more credible.
Resurrection Theories
Contrast between St. Paul's and Rudolf Bultmann's theories of the significance of the Resurrection. St. Paul says they the if Jesus' bones were discovered, it would greatly change Catholic theology. He says that it would oppose everything Catholics believe. Bultmann argues that the theology would remain the same. He believes that it is too accepted to be changed.

MR 4.E Purgatory Idea Sketch
This idea shows the overall ideas and information about Purgatory. It states that, after death, one is purified begfore escending into heaven.
Gandalf, The Balrog, and Aragorn
Gandalf's fight against the Balrog and Aragorn's travel into the mountain are both analogies of Jesus Christ's descent into the Land of The Dead. When Gandalf is fighting the Balrog, he sacrifices himself to save the others, just as Jesus sacrificed himself to save us. Balrog could be considered a description of Satan: a large, fiery demon that tries to stop Gandalf from saving the others. Aragorn's travel into the mountain is very symbolic of Jesus' descent into the Land of The Dead. Aragorn travels into the mountain and offers the souls within a chance at redemption. Jesus travels to Hades and offers the souls within redemption. Aragorn is their redeemer; Jesus is our redeemer. The souls in both stories are givin the option to follower their redeemer. Both Jesus and Aragorn offer the souls to be free.

Exit Ticket - 10/21/14
This passage tells us that the death of Jesus is neccesary for our redemption. We wouldnt be able to recieve grace without it. As we wait for the day when we will be redeemed, we practice the Eucharist to show our devotion and love to both God and Jesus.
Exit ticket 10/21/14
The passage tells how Jesus' death was necessary for our redemption. Without it, we could not receive God's grace. The Last Supper instituted the Eucharist that the priest talks about in the passage. The "memorial of our redemption" references when Jesus died on the cross for us. As we wait for the day we will be redeemed, we do the sacrament of the Eucharist to praise God and show our devotion to Him.

Transfiguration(Activity 3)
The apostles present at the Transfiguration would have felt in awe of Jesus, and felt a new appreciation for his works. They could not bring themselves to accept that Jesus had to die on the cross for humanity's sins, so Jesus carried out a miracle to reassure them. The Transfiguration showed the apostles what it would be like when they entered into heaven. After Jesus' change and speaking with Moses and Elijah, the apostles experienced joy and contemplated what their future would be like. They were reminded of the glory of God, and how Jesus' death would result in their entering into heaven.
Transfiguration Outline & Analysis
Jesus' transfiguration was when He truly showed himself as both Man and God. It is the second time that the Trinity is shown in the Bible. This is important because it clearly shows God's presence in the world. Christ's transfiguration strengthened the faith of His disciples. God was present in His voice, the Son in His humanity, and the Holy Spirit in the clouds. The apostles needed the transfiguration because they did not fully understand Jesus' divinity. But the transfiguration was not Jesus proving himself, but rather Jesus inspiring his followers and trying to help them understand His divinity.
Transfiguration Reflection
Seeing Jesus transfigure on Mt. tabor would be extremely and delightfully amazing. there would be no words that could come out of my mouth that could describe it. The appearnces of Moses and Elijah and even the Holy Trinity makes it even more divine. Im guessing that both the Apostles and I would be extremely shocked and maybe even a little scared. This is a huge miracle, because it complemented the baptism and represented the perfect, divine life of heaven. Again, for me it would be somthing that I do not deserve. It just so great and magnificent that I wouldnt know what to do.

MR 4.B Defeating the Prince of Darkness
I found reading about the temptations of Jesus very interesting. We always here how perfect and holy he is. These temptations really proved how great and holy he was. The other thing is that these temptations were very tempting, for the Devil offered great powers authority and splendor. Jesus could have easily accepted these things and become loved by everysingle man. How ever, because it was the Devil, this would go against his divinity and loyalty to God.

Jesus identified as the Anointed One
I learned that the difference between the baptism we receive and and the one Jesus received was that during the baptism Jesus did not receive Grace and signs that he was the Anointed One were shown to the crowd.
John The Baptist identifies Jesus as The Lamb of God
I learned that when Jesus went to get baptized, John the Baptist didn't really know anything about him. When he saw Jesus walking towards him, he told the people to behold, The Lamb of God. John gave Jesus this title without any knowledge of him. That's whats very interesting!
Wedding at Cana
I learned about the significance of the Wedding at Cana, and how it was Jesus' first public miracle.
