MR 5.E Magisterium and Apostles

Where do we see evidence of Apostolic authority and succession in scripture? Why is that important today?
In the beginning of the Church, the apostles were the bishops and Peter was the Pope. In order to spread the Church, more people are needed. Peter and Paul began to appoint more and more people to help them spread the word. Authority began to pass down BEFORE Peter and Paul died. Paul told Timothy "What you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." This is Paul passing down the authority to Timothy. The bishops and their successors teach what truly was meant to be taught and have no relations with heretics. This is important in today's Church because it shows us although some Churches may go against Jesus' teachings, it is still held truthfully through our bishops and Pope, who were given authority by their predecessors. To find the truth of the Church and her teachings you must find it through the Bishops and the Apostles successors.
